It sat on Music to Moog By until 1972, when Stan Free recut it as Hot Butter — live drums, that popping melody — and Europe lost its mind. #1 in France, Switzerland, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway. First synth-pop smash. Two million copies. Then Crazy Frog, Aphex Twin, Jarre, the Muppets… the kernel kept exploding.

Now it lands in a beach cabin in Corsica.
